Tours Pierre
One area that is particularly significant with
respect to the legendary Missouri River region is Pierre, South
Dakota. The famous city offers many tours along the river and you
as tourist will be able to attain an overview of what the earliest
travelers to the region experienced. This is accomplished by taking
a boating expedition on the Missouri River. The Capital City Queen
will take you on a two hour boating excursion where you will be
able to sail past all of the area's historic places inclusive of
the Bad River. The river was where the explorers Lewis and Clark
met with the Sioux. The boat provides trips with a guide from
Tuesday through Sunday during the months of June, July and August.
You can even privately charter a tour for your group or
organization. In order to do so contact the Pierre Chamber of
Commerce at 1-800-962-2034. They have all the information. From A of arrival to O like
online games and more.
A site particularly significant in Pierre is the Lewis and Clark
National Historic Trail. The trail is the same as the one traveled
by the two explorers. There are a number of interesting observation
points along the famed pathway. Signs along the way engage the
visitor with the story of the famed expedition during the period of
September of 1804. This is when the two explorers traveled up the
Missouri River and past what became known as Pierre, South Dakota.
Further the Lewis and Clark Historic Trail is the second largest of
the historic trails within the United States. The Pierre South
Dakota Convention and Visitor's Bureau can provide further
information. You may find them on the net by doing a search using
the key words: Pierre South Dakota Convention and Tourism Bureau or
words to that effect.
